A new bottle emporium is bringing the best in artisan drinks and food produce to the centre of St Neots, in a leased property secured by the commercial team at Brown & Co Barfords.

Located in Cross Keys Mews, off the High Street; the bottle emporium,  called Shumë , sells a range of beers, gins and coffee alongside a selection of unique cheeses. Shumë (pronounced Shum) comes from the Albanian expression for more/lots of choice and is the brainchild of Luan Saraqi, drawing on his experience in the hospitality industry.

After moving to the UK from Kosovo, Luan initially spent some years in London before moving to St Neots, where he has lived for seven years.  In speaking about his business idea and his new shop premises, Luan said: “A central town centre position was important to me – so I immediately contacted Brown & Co Barfords as key agents in the area. The team took the time to understand exactly what type of property I was after and I was presented with the Cross Keys property which was perfect for the business that I wanted to develop. I’m excited at being able to share my love of great food and drink with others in the town with the opening of Shumë.”

Luan was supported by Professional James Price from Brown & Co Barfords in securing the property. Commenting on the leasing agreement, secured by Brown & Co Barfords for a private client, James said: “We are seeing clear buoyancy in the St Neots retail environment and are confident that the addition of Shumë to the well-known Cross Keys courtyard will be a popular addition to an already vibrant part of the town.”

Shumë stocks over 150 beers from local brews to a specialist range of Belgian beers; 10 gins featuring Ely Gin and a selection of freshly roasted artisan coffee from Coffee World in Milton, Cambridge.  Customers can also choose from balsamic vinegars on tap and a selection of cheeses from Britain.

Luan has given prominence to environmental considerations when planning the store, with the shelving all hand created from recycled wooden pallets and he’ll be offering cost-saving incentives linked to recycling measures.

The letting of commercial property is a core part of the Brown & Co Barfords offering; with its commercial agency team benefiting from significant experience and expertise in selling and letting commercial premises and land throughout Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire. Brown & Co employs over 240 staff and operates from 12 UK offices, largely in East Anglia and the East Midlands. As part of the wider Brown & Co portfolio, the St Neots office now benefits from the addition of architectural services, residential agency, agricultural land agency, auctions and advice on renewables.
