Brown & Co Barfords has announced its latest activity as part of its commitment to develop a new generation of Chartered Surveyors. Oliver Brittain has been invited to progress his education and knowledge in the property sector as a Real Estate Management Undergraduate, fully supported by the Brown & Co Barfords team.

Having grown up in St Neots, Oliver has a strong knowledge and awareness of the local area and property. After leaving sixth form in 2014 and opting to go straight in full time employment, Oliver began working at Brown & Co Barfords in 2016. As soon as Oliver started working in the business, he was immediately struck by the exciting nature of real estate management and was keen to develop in this field. Working in Brown & Co Barfords at present provides Oliver with an exciting day to day work schedule, consisting largely of property management, alongside assisting with valuations, lease renewals and rent reviews.

Beginning in October 2017, Oliver is studying BSc (Hons) Real Estate Management via the University College of Estate Management (UCEM) in Reading. Oliver is completing his degree via distance learning, utilising e-books, webinars and other resources via the University’s bespoke Virtual Learning Environment. The degree covers a wide variety of property related content including law, construction, management and general chartered surveying practice. The broad topics this degree covers present Oliver with all the necessary knowledge to continue progressing a career as a Chartered Surveyor, and in turn develop his career within Brown & Co Barfords.

Brown & Co Barfords is supporting Oliver by not only covering his education costs, and providing a weekly day release, but additionally providing one-to-one support from his colleagues in the offices. Speaking about Brown & Co Barfords support for the next generation of Chartered Surveyors, Partner Sheila Smyth said “We are delighted to be able to support Oliver to undertake further education and training to become a qualified Chartered Surveyor for Brown & Co Barfords. We are passionate about developing the future of the sector and Oliver is a shining example of a dedicated individual driven to learn and develop his career.”
