Barford + Co, the St Neots based firm of Chartered Surveyors and Planning Consultants, announces the letting of 27 High Street, St Neots, to nationwide pharmacy chain Lloyds Pharmacy, who are relocating from their current premises on Huntingdon Street.

Previously occupied by Shoe Zone, 27 High Street is in a prominent position nearby Holland & Barrett, Subway and Marks & Spencer Simply Food. Lloyds Pharmacy joins Boots and Superdrug in St Neots, also located on the High Street.

Felicity Paddick is a surveyor at Barford + Co, she said: “The relocation of Lloyds Pharmacy to a more prominent location in the town will provide a significant boost to the already strong High Street retail offering. St Neots has bucked the trend of many other High Streets in recent years and has continued to thrive, and the decision by Lloyds to strengthen their position in the town by opening a store on the High Street demonstrates confidence in the local economy.

The Regional Development Manager of Lloyds Pharmacy commented “Lloyds Pharmacy is pleased to be relocating to larger premises on the High Street in order to meet the needs of this rapidly expanding affluent town.  The move will allow an improved shopping experience for our customers with an expansion of retail categories.  The proposed new layout will also provide improved facilities for prescription dispensing, allowing greater visibility and service interaction with our pharmacist.”

Four town centre properties are currently available through Barford + Co including two on the High Street, 2-6 Cambridge Street and 21 Huntingdon Street, all situated in prime locations in the town centre offering opportunities for a variety of businesses.

The town centre shop unit on 6 High Street is set halfway along the south side of the busy High Street opposite large retail chains Edinburgh Woollen Mill, Costa Coffee and Clintons. Previously occupied by clothing store Tag, the premises would be suitable for a new retail business seeking to establish itself in a primary town centre location or alternatively a financial or professional business that would benefit from a high street situation.

The current Wood Green Animal Shelter shop at number 24 is also now available to let in a fantastic position near Subway, Holland & Barrett and Boots.

2-6 Cambridge Street is located on a prominent corner plot close to Beales Department Store and Marks & Spencer and was most recently used as a book shop and café. The property is available to let at an annual rent of £25,000 exclusive of outgoings.

The third property, located on 21 Huntingdon Street, is another modern retail premises in a strong secondary town centre location close to the new cinema and arts complex with significant passing footfall. The property benefits from dedicated car parking and is available to let with potential for a variety of uses including café/restaurant and hot food takeaway.

Felicity Paddick commented: “All of these premises in St Neots offer fantastic opportunities for businesses interested in gaining a foothold in the increasingly popular and expanding town.

“Both High Street properties are in enviable positions right in the middle of the town centre and we are anticipating high demand, as competition for premises of this nature can be strong. The properties would be suitable for a wide variety of businesses as St Neots benefits from good public car parking facilities and excellent road links.

Felicity concluded “The retail property market in St Neots is moving quickly at the moment and we expect all of these properties to be let shortly, so we encourage any interested parties to contact us as soon as possible to arrange viewings.”
