PLANNING PERMISSION FOR 330 NEW HOMES IN ROYSTON

June 2015- Barford + Co, one of Cambridgeshire’s leading firms of Chartered Surveyors and Planners, announces the success of an application for planning permission for up to 330 new homes in Royston.

Speaking at the very well attended North Herts Planning Committee meeting held on Thursday 28 May, Martin Page, Director of Planning for Barford + Co, put forward the case for the development of the new housing scheme to be built on land north of Newmarket Road in Royston.

The application, to which there were several objectors, was approved subject to the completion of a planning legal agreement with seven votes in favour, two votes against and one abstention.

The development will feature a mix of house types including affordable housing as well as community open space, with access from the A505 to avoid any impact on the woodland plantation along the Newmarket Road frontage and ensuring no additional traffic through the adjoining residential area.

Martin Page said: “The planning permission granted last week will deliver a well-related housing development for Royston, helping to meet the pressing housing need, whilst ensuring positive community benefits with the creation of a community public open space.

“The site has been carefully selected due to its accessible and sustainable location, within walking and cycling distance of schools and facilities. The development will also fund an extended bus service as well as improvements to school and health provision".

Upon completion of the legal agreement between the applicant and the Local Authority, Barford + Co will be seeking to market the site and to identifying a suitable developer to take forward the delivery of the scheme.
